Disney Classics: This or That?

I came across this on Jess's blog Foundations and Fairytales and just had to do it!

I am a Disney lover and will talk about it at any given opportunity.
I'm not quite sure how I'm going to choose between some of these though...

I'd also love to read your answers too so if you do this post and want to share your choices in the comments then please do!
Cinderella or Tarzan - This one is incredibly easy for me. Tarzan is and always will be my all time favourite Disney movie. I watched it with my mum as a child and to this day it still makes me feel so overwhelmed with emotion. It also has the best movie soundtrack of all time.

Alice in Wonderland or Beauty and the Beast - I love both of these films but I think Alice in Wonderland wins.

Lion King or Bambi - Lion King. No contest. I remember watching the scene with Bambi's mum and crying for about a week. I have no desire to ever watch that again. I still cry when I watch Lion King but it's just so great.

Snow White or Big Hero 6 - Brace yourself... I've never seen Big Hero 6.

Aladdin or Tangled - As much as I love the songs and the genie from Aladdin it has to be Tangled. That film is another of my favourite films and just speaks to me. I love everything about it.

Princess and the Frog or The Sword in the Stone - The Princess and the Frog is such a great film and wins for me. The voodoo guy freaks me the hell out though.

Mulan or Oliver and Company - Mulan. This film is so good. And lets just talk about the bisexual icon that is Li Shang.

Atlantis or The Little Mermaid - Whatever went against The Little Mermaid had no chance. Ariel and Eric captured my heart as a little girl and they'll always have a piece of it 💚

Basil the Great Mouse Detective or Hercules - I've only seen Hercules and I don't even really remember it. It's one of those I watched in my childhood and just haven't revisited.

Sleeping Beauty or Jungle Book - None of these films call to me. I'd have to say Jungle Book only because of the soundtrack.

Winnie the Pooh or The Huncback of Notre Dame - I adore Winnie the Pooh and that's the one I'm going to pick simply because I don't really remember The Hunchback. I know I've seen it but I think I need a refresher.

Pinocchio or Moana - Never seen Moana, don't really like Pinocchio.

Frozen or Pocahontas - This was a tough one but I'd have to say Frozen. Reason being I love the fact they endorse sisterly love over romance etc. They emphasise the fact you don't need a man to save you. I like that. But it's worth saying that Pocahontas has such beautiful imagery and songs. It's a visually stunning film.

Zootropolis v Lilo and Stitch - I am a massive fan of Lilo & Stitch but it cannot compete with Zootropolis (Zootopia). Zootropolis is my second favourite film.
ZOOTROPOLIS IS INCREDIBLE.
Are you ready for a little rant about why Zootropolis is one of the best Disney movies ever?
Well...
I really don't think it got the credit it deserves. This film is full of important lessons and messages that everyone should want instilled in their children. To be honest I think a lot of adults would benefit from watching it too.
It's all about being brave, believing in yourself and believing in the inherent goodness of people.
It's about learning to live with and take care of each other as well as embracing everyone for who they are even if it's different to what you know.

If you haven't watched it then make sure it goes on your watch list. Seriously, just watch it.

Treasure Planet or Lady and the Tramp - I've always loved Lady and the Tramp. I also love the second film too with little Scamp.

Fantasia or The Rescuers - I don't remember watching either of them

Robin Hood or Dumbo - I don't feel a connection to either of these films to be honest. Dumbo maybe... I don't know

Peter Pan or Fox and the Hound - Fox and the Hound all day every day.
One of the saddest moments ever is when Tod is released back into the woods. I still cry now. You watch her carry him into the car and I cried from the second I knew what she was about to do. His little face and her face... God I'm welling up just thinking about it.
Honestly, I skip that bit if I watch it. In fact I avoid watching it now because I can't cope.

Wreck it Ralph or 101 Dalmations - I've never seen Wreck it Ralph so the decision's been made for me...

So I now realise I need to up my game and get going on the list of films I haven't seen.
Who knows, maybe I'll find a new favourite?

I definitely wont... Tarzan > everything.

I also relived some childhood trauma thinking about that scene from Fox and the Hound.
So while I try and recover why don't you go and give Jess's answers a read?

    1. I still don't understand why it's called Zootropolis in the UK but Zootopia in the US. I don't need that level of confusion!
